Arizona Genealogy Resources

An overview of the physical and digital genealogy resources from the State of Arizona Research Library and the Arizona State Archives.

Marriage Records

Contact the Clerk of the Superior Court in the county where the marriage certificate was filed.

The Archives marriage record and divorce record holdings range from 1864-1972 and vary by county. You are welcome to submit a question about coverage to the Archives here. The types of marriage records available may include:

  • Consents (includes parent names, permission for underage child to marry)
  • Affidavits (includes ages and residences)
  • Certificates
  • Licenses (place of residence)

Divorce Records

The Archives holds indices for many of the civil divorce cases. Researchers can locate case numbers and files by name. Case files include complaints, judgments, and other documents filed with the court. The majority do not include transcripts.

You can use the register of action to trigger a newspaper search based on the dates listed. This could lead to other sources of information.
