The Civil Rights movement in the mid 20th century played out on a national stage, led by leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, but its influence spread throughout the nation with local leaders and communities working to bring civil rights to their own states. One of the biggest issues was desegregation of schools and neighborhoods to bring equality and opportunity to minority communities.
