Research at the Polly Rosenbaum State Archives and History Building

This guide includes information about scheduling an appointment to view materials from the Arizona State Archives and the State of Arizona Research Library in the Reading Room of the Polly Rosenbaum State Archives and History building.

What to bring with you

What to bring

  • Government-issued photo ID. You will be asked to show a government-issued photo ID and sign a researcher agreement before entering the Reading Room.
  • A light sweater or jacket, as the room can sometimes feel chilly
  • Pencils and notepaper (we provide these, if needed)
  • Cell phone (must be silenced)
  • Camera (no flash allowed)
  • Laptop/tablet
  • A flash drive to capture any scanned images from our microfilm readers.
  • Research notes (may be asked to place in designated area in the Reading Room)

What to leave at home or in a locker onsite

  • You will be asked to store the following personal belongings in our lockers before entering the Reading Room: Large bags or briefcases; Pens, markers, highlighters; Scanners/personal copiers; Scissors/cutting devices; Weapons; any adhesive materials; and other items. Free locks are provided.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the building (including chewing gum, hard candy, etc.), except for water bottles which must be kept in a locker.
