♦ A Judge presides over proceedings in Superior Court. A Superior Court Judge must be an attorney, be at least 30 years old, and admitted to the practice of law in Arizona & a resident of Arizona for at least 5 years before taking office.
♦ Proceedings are formal. Parties are generally represented by attorneys.
♦ Proceedings are governed by the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Local Rules.
♦ Most civil disputes of $50,000 or less are heard by 3 arbitrators. Arbitration decisions may be appealed but usually are not.
